What tools do I need to start carving?
A chisel, mallet, and suitable worktop are as basic as it gets. Having a saw on hand can also speed up your process. Our Carving Starter Kit contains everything you need!
What type of wood should I carve with?
No two pieces of wood are identical, the best way to find out is experimenting with different species. Angsana and Walnut are good choices of solid wood for carving. Pine, Meranti, and Jelutong can be explored as softer alternatives.
